Dr. Matthew Lappenga

DPM, FACFAS

I enjoy caring for our community in all aspects of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. I believe in listening carefully to each patient to understand their needs and goals, often including reducing pain and staying active and functional on their feet. Orthopedic, dermatologic, vascular or nerve conditions often combine to contribute to a patient's concerns, and each needs to be addressed to maximize improvements. Caring for the needs of patients with diabetes in order to reduce amputations is also very important to me.

I’ve provided clinical and surgical care with Holland Foot & Ankle since 2006. I am a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and am a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and Michigan Podiatric Medical Association. I am board-certified in foot surgery and am a diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.

I was born and raised in Holland, Michigan. While studying at Hope College I enjoyed running varsity on the Cross Country and Track teams. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Hope College with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. I graduated Summa Cum Laude as valedictorian of my class from William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, IL. I enjoyed living within earshot of Wrigley Field. I then completed three years of training in a Podiatric Surgery Residency at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, WI, by the beautiful shores of the Mississippi River. I returned to Holland where I am happy to be raising my family. I enjoy attending concerts, especially by the greatest band in the world, U2.

I offer appointments at our Holland North and Allegan locations.
